You get this all the time, people don't want simple do-gooders anymore with our superheroes, we want them to be complex and have a darkside, we want Tony Stark to have a drinking problem, we want Superman to feel like an outcast, we want to see Batman struggle with his morality. And there's nothing wrong with this, making the characters more complex makes them more interesting and by giving them real life problems makes them more reletable and more likely for us to root for them, but my problem is now all of our superheroes are like this. And really it makes me feel like we've lost the purpose of superheroes, they originally started out as ideals, as people for us to look up to and hope to be like them. Captain America was all about standing up for your country and getting ready to sock ol' Hitler in the jaw. Superman was a symbol of truth, justice and the American way. In fact let's just focus on Superman here for a second, because in the past few years he's come under a lot of critisism for being too powerful and being a goody-two-shoes. But my thing is, what's wrong with that? What's wrong with having that perfect superhero? The one who you can always rely on to do the right thing and to always save the day. DC used to be all about the heroes that you idilized while Marvel were the ones who handled the relatable heroes, but now DC have lost that, and Superman was the leading man of heroes to idealize. Now true, it is still possible to idealize heroes that you can also relate to, but i personally don't find it to be that affective and now rather than having the balance we have no more idols and it is all relatable heroes, and I don't want to see that, give me the perfect hero to look up to, give me the real Man of Steel, give me my true hero.
