I've noticed a trend in movies these days, particularly action movies, "the inappropriate kiss" which is basically when the two romantic characters share their big kiss at a time and place that is really awkward. A good example is the picture to the right, Man of Steel, where Lois Lane and Superman share their first kiss in the middle of a destroyed Metropolis, who knows how many corpses are buried under the dirt around them, and they decide this is the best time for them to share a kiss? They also did this in the newly released Jurassic World, where Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard's characters share their first kiss in the middle of a raptor attack, like seriously, a raptor could pick them up and eat them at any moment and they're just stood their kissing...with the kids watching, ew. Or Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End, during the big epic fight in the climax, Will and Elizabeth not only get married in the middle of the fight (which was actually kinda cool) and then they have the big romantic kiss, slow motion camera twirl, swelling music, people getting mutilated in the background, so romantic. There have been plenty of movies in the past that have awkward romantic moments, especially action, but this trend has been getting stronger and more noticeable in recent years. I think it's mostly because (while the romances aren't perfect) the romances are seeming less forced these days, so when a forced trend reappears it's all the more noticeable. So you know, next time you want to have a kiss, maybe don't do it surrounded by the dead or dying...
