X-Men Evolution, great show, lots to love. But the thing it's probably best known for is the creation of X-23, Wolverine's female clone who eventually became so popular she IS the current Wolverine in the comics. The thing is, she only appeared in 3 episodes, yet she garnered enough popularity to become a major character in the comics. Frankly I think that's one of the biggest achievements a comic book adaptation can get, when something they created then gets put in the comics.
But here's the thing. She wasn't the only new character X-Men Evolution made. Evan Daniels AKA Spyke was one of the main characters of the show. He was Storm's nephew and had the power to create...well, spikes that he can use as projectiles. Eventually his mutation evolved further to give him super strength and explosive spikes, but it also changed how he physically looked and left the X-Men to join the Morlocks underground, becoming their defender. Okay so shit, this sounds like plenty here for a great character, and he was a great character. You could do so much with his family, his powers, his time with the Morlocks. How is it that a character that appeared in 3 episodes eventually became Wolverine, while a main character of this series never even made it to comic books? Not even a passing mention? And keep in mind in the mid-2000s there were atleast half a dozen X-Men titles going on the same time as the show, and not a single one even so much as mentions his existence? Ultimate X-Men was all about experimenting and trying new things, they couldn't have put him in just to ruin him and kill him off like you do everyone? At least that'll show he existed. There are so many potential stories that could be told with him and Marvel should really take advantage of that. Of course considering Marvel is slowly killing off the X-Men so I doubt they'll be bringing in another one...
